Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is indeed an honour to welcome all of you to The 14th Congress of The ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (AFES) to be held in Kuala Lumpur in November 2007.
The Organising Committee started planning this conference from the time of the AFES in Manila and are now are anxiously awaiting the event. I am proud that after all our hard work, the Congress, which will be held from 29th November to 2nd December 2007 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia, will bring together professionals in the region and around the world for a common interest.
We have put together an excellent and all rounded scientific programme that incorporates a range of subjects dealing with the various facets of endocrinology. Rich and relevant information will be presented, dissected and discussed for the benefit of practitioners and researchers with an interest in endocrinology. We intend to invite speakers who are the very best in their field to share their expertise and knowledge with our delegates.
Our vision for this year’s Congress is for it to contribute significantly to increasing your knowledge in the field of endocrinology while meeting old friends from the region and making some new acquaintances. We encourage you to join us and take advantage of the many sessions both in the pre-congress and main congress that will be presented by a carefully selected international pool of experts and also enjoy the social programme. Kuala Lumpur has a lot to offer and I hope that you will spend some time becoming familiar with our rich heritage. If you have the time, a trip to some to places outside Kuala Lumpur like Penang or Langkawi to name a few would certainly be an enriching experience.
I am also proud to inform you that 2007 is the 50th anniversary of Malaysia’s independence and also "Visit Malaysia Year 2007". It would be an honour for me to invite you to come and share in the festivities.
Last but certainly not least, I would like to take this opportunity to thank my colleagues from Malaysia as well as elsewhere who have contributed to the exciting programme we have planned and our friends from the pharmaceutical industry for their continued support for making this important Congress a reality.
We look forward to seeing you in Kuala Lumpur.
