Dear friends and colleagues,

It is my great pleasure to welcome all of you to The 14th Congress of The ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (AFES) to be held in Kuala Lumpur from 29th November to 2nd December 2007.

Endocrinology is becoming more and more important in the world of healthcare, especially where standards of living are increasing and more people are facing challenges as their lifestyle habits change. It is imperative
that we keep up-to-date in developments in our field to ensure that we are able to deliver the best care to patients. AFES unites endocrinologists in Southeast Asia and allows us to effectively tackle the problems, which are unique to our region.

The objective of this Congress is to bring the study and practice of Endocrinology to the next level, and you will see that we’ve very mindfully put together a comprehensive scientific programme, which includes all the endocrinology related areas, taking special attention to making sure that the Asia-centric issues are covered.

It is our primary mission to provide physical and virtual platforms where scientists and practitioners in the Endocrine arena could meet and exchange ideas and findings. We have, for this Congress, invited renowned authorities with the sole objective of keeping you abreast with latest developments while sharing experiences with colleagues and friends. A variety of lectures, symposia, case studies and “meet the expert” sessions have been incorporated in the programme to whet your appetite.

I sincerely hope you will participate in both the academic and social activities we have planned and enjoy the warmth and hospitality, which Malaysia is known for.
